Tax-Exempt Organizations and Non-Profit Fundraising
In Colorado, only tax-exempt organizations and nonprofits 501 (3) (c) can Utilize this type of fundraising. Bingo, pull tabs and raffles generate tax-free income for non-profits proven to be a great need in all communities. Charitable gaming creates a sustainable income source year after year. If a non-profit organization wants to operate bingo games for profit it must apply for a bingo license through the Colorado Secretary of State which regulates bingo in Colorado. As part of the process, the non-profits must prove and provide documentation to the state verifying that they have been in existence as a 501(3) (c) for five (5) years
Strip Bingo Cards
Played similarly to paper bingo. Strip Cards are purchased by players, who simply pop open the large tabs on the back of the card; revealing up to five bingo faces (depending on the game and card type). As bingo balls are called – players will complete as directed by the caller either a straight line, Vertical or Horizontal Bingo, dab all four corners, or cover every number on one, multiple, or all cards.
Pull Tabs & Pickles
Pull Tabs and Pickles consist of small paper tickets with perforated tabs that can be pulled to reveal symbols or numbers. Players typically purchase a pull tab ticket for a small amount of money, and then pull the tabs to reveal whether they have won a prize. Prizes can range from small amounts of money to larger jackpots, depending on the specific game and venue. The name “pickle game” comes from the fact that the tickets were originally sold in glass jars, much like pickles or other preserved foods. The term “pull tabs” refers to the tabs that must be pulled to reveal the prize.
Progressive Pull Tabs
Progressive Pull Tabs are a type of pull tab game where the jackpot prize increases with each ticket sold until it is won. In a progressive pull-tab game, a portion of the money from each ticket sold is added to the jackpot prize, which continues to grow until someone wins it. The odds of winning the progressive jackpot can vary, depending on the specific game and the number of tickets sold.
Personal Electronic Bingo Machines
Personal Electronic Bingo Machines consist of a handheld device with a screen and buttons that allow players to mark off their numbers as they are called. The device generates and calls out the bingo numbers, and players can see the numbers displayed on the screen.
